Utah Financial Literacy Curriculum for Elementary Students

Utah was the first state in the nation to require a stand-alone General Financial Literacy course for high school graduation. Below high school, Utah's elementary standards teach economics every year in grades K-2 (Social Studies Strand 4: needs and wants, work and earning, spending, saving, sharing, scarcity, and opportunity cost), and then the dedicated strand ends. Grades 3-6 carry economics only inside history units.

Networthy fills exactly those gap years: a full personal finance course for ages 8-12 that picks up every K-2 economics thread, extends it, and lands students at the required high school course prepared, six to seven years early.

Alignment with Utah's standards

Utah K-2 Economics (Strand 4): 9 of 11 standards covered in full, the other 2 substantially advanced, taught at the age when Utah's own dedicated economics instruction has ended. Kindergarten standard K.4.3 is literally "spending, saving, and sharing": Networthy's three buckets are Utah's three verbs.
Utah's required General Financial Literacy course: every one of its five strands has its foundation laid in this course, several in the same words Utah uses (GFL Strand 4 says "pay yourself first"; Networthy Lesson 7 teaches pay-yourself-first).
The Financial and Economic Literacy Passport: Networthy produces artifacts families can document: a signed Money Plan, a four-week money log, a business plan, and a 15-question before-and-after score.

Paying with Utah Fits All Scholarship funds
