How we handle your family's information
Short version: your child's lesson progress never leaves your device. We don't create student accounts, we don't ask kids for personal information, and we don't sell anything about you to anybody.

The part most people care about
Lesson progress stays on your device.
When your child completes a lesson, earns a badge, answers a quiz, takes the Networthy Score, or types a name for the certificate, all of it is saved in your own browser's local storage. It is not sent to us. We have no database of students and no way to look up what your child did. If you clear your browser data, that progress is gone, and even we cannot recover it. That is the tradeoff we chose on purpose.
It also means progress does not follow a child between devices. A kid who starts on the iPad and switches to the laptop starts over. We would rather explain that than hold your child's records on a server.
Trying the free lesson
Lesson 1 is free and creates no account. It does ask for a parent's email address before it opens, and that address is the only thing we receive. Nothing your child does inside the lesson is ever sent to us.
We ask for that address once, on the way in, and we do not ask again. The card says plainly that we send more than the worksheet: a few practical money activities and tips for teaching kids about money. The printable worksheet that goes with the lesson is waiting at the end of it whether or not anything ever lands in your inbox, and every email we send afterwards carries an unsubscribe link.
What we actually collect, and when

Cookies and analytics
We use two analytics tools to understand how people find the site and whether the lessons hold a kid's attention. Both set cookies or similar identifiers.
Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram). Tells us whether our ads and posts bring anyone to the site, and records milestones like "someone started Lesson 1" or "someone finished Lesson 1." Meta receives this information and it is subject to Meta's privacy policy.
Google Analytics 4. Tells us which pages people read and where they came from. We have deliberately turned off Google Signals and advertising personalization, so this data is not used to build advertising profiles or follow anyone around the internet. It is subject to Google's privacy policy.
Turning analytics off
Your browser's tracking protection or an ad blocker will stop both, and the course keeps working normally either way. Nothing on this site depends on analytics running. You can also install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on, or adjust ad settings in your Meta account.
Children's privacy
Networthy is bought by adults and used by children, usually aged 8 to 12. We take that seriously and designed around it.
- We never ask a child for a name, phone number, photo, or login, and there are no student accounts to create.
- The one email field, and the honest version of it. Lesson 1 opens with a card headed "Grown-up, start here" that asks for a parent's email address. The field is labelled "Parent's email address", it is not focused automatically, and the card tells children in as many words to hand the device to an adult. We ask for the parent's address because we send the printable activity that goes with the lesson, and occasional activities after that.
We are not going to pretend that makes it impossible for a child to type something in. It is the first thing on the screen and some children will fill it in themselves. If an address reaches us that belongs to a child, we have no way to tell from the address alone. What we can tell you is what happens either way: we only ever receive the address itself, we never send anything to a student, every email carries an unsubscribe link, and nothing your child does inside the lesson is attached to it or sent to us at all. If you believe a child gave us an address, email hello@networthykids.com and we will delete it. You do not need to prove anything to us. - The name typed on the certificate screen is stored on your device only. It is never transmitted to us.
- There is no chat, no comments, no messaging, and no way for a child to publish anything or contact another user.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. We do not sell or rent information about anyone, at any age, to anyone.
To be straight with you about the one gap: the analytics tools described above run on the lesson pages as well as the marketing pages, so they see anonymous technical signals like device type and pages viewed. They are not given a name, an email, or any identifier we hold about your child, and we have turned off the advertising-profile features in Google Analytics. If you would rather no analytics ran at all while your child works, use a browser with tracking protection on, and the lessons will behave exactly the same.
The honest risk with that one field is that a child fills it in instead of handing the device over. We would rather say so than pretend it cannot happen. If it does, tell us and we will delete the address, and the first email that list ever sends carries an unsubscribe link like every one after it.
If you believe a child has somehow given us personal information, email hello@networthykids.com and we will delete it.
Schools, districts and ESA programs
Relevant if you are evaluating Networthy for students rather than your own child:
- We do not hold student records. There is no roster, no gradebook, and no student database, because progress lives on the device.
- We do not create education records under FERPA, and there is nothing for us to disclose because we hold nothing.
- The Student Dashboard is generated in the browser from that device's saved progress and printed locally. It never passes through us.
- Education savings account purchases through a marketplace are handled by that marketplace and its own privacy terms. We receive the order.
If your district needs this in a specific form, or needs a data protection agreement signed, email hello@networthykids.com and we will work through it with you.
Who else touches your information
We keep the list of companies involved as short as we reasonably can:
- Netlify hosts the website and receives standard server request data. It also receives the optional Score numbers if you choose to share them.
- Gumroad processes purchases and issues license keys.
- Meta and Google receive the analytics described above.
- Odyssey, ClassWallet and similar marketplaces, only if you buy through one of them.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with data brokers. We have no advertising network of our own.
How long we keep things
Purchase records are kept as long as needed for tax, accounting and license support. Emails are kept as long as the conversation is useful. Analytics data expires on the providers' own schedules, and we set Google Analytics retention to the shortest option available to us. Lesson progress is not ours to keep or delete, because it is on your device.
Your choices
- See or delete what we have. Email us and we will tell you what is associated with your purchase, or delete it, subject to records we must keep for tax purposes.
- Delete your child's progress. Clear your browser's site data for networthykids.com, or use the delete option in the kid profile switcher. That removes it completely, from the only place it exists.
- Stop hearing from us. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link, and you can reply asking to be removed.
If you are in California, the EU, the UK, or another place with specific privacy rights, we will honour a request under those rules. Email us and say what you want.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. We hold very little about you, which is the most effective security measure available to a company our size. Payment card details never reach us at all.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If a change is significant and you are a customer, we will email you about it rather than quietly editing the page.
